Statement of Intent
How do
you intend to use the four areas of the media theoretical framework to
communicate meaning and meet the requirements of your chosen brief?
With my
music video, I intend to create an engaging video that sticks to the original
brief while also deviating from it slightly to create a different look on the
genre whilst building on current themes and conventions that the genre already
has. My video will contain a wide variety of cinematography with the first half
of the video being in a fast paced montage that goes with the beat of the song,
while the second half will be a slow moving shot that will juxtapose the
beginning of the video. The amount of editing for this video will be very high
as the montage will require a lot of quick cuts and changes between the clips
to keep up with the upbeat section of the song. During the montage there will
be a range of settings used with should all look different to the next clip to
show a clear difference between two clips that go next to each other. The
second half of the video will be shot in a dimly lit room/rooms which will go
against the rest of the video, just like that part of the song. The video I
want to make will tell a narrative instead of being a performance, as I feel
the song will be more effective being a narrative type of video rather than a
performance. My target audience falls under the mass marketing audience of
15-24 year olds so I have to make the video appropriate to what would appeal to
them.
For my
website, I will need to find a house style that not only I like and fits with
the theme of my made up artist but also appeals to what the mass market target
audience will like as well. An important part of creating any website is to
make it clear where to find what you’re looking for, and that everything is clearly
laid out to avoid confusion from anyone. The website needs to also have some brand
identity with my artist, which should relate back to my house style of the website.
A menu bar will also be on the website which will help people quickly navigate
their ways around the website to allow a lot of ease of access. A good balance
of images and text need to be on the website as well, as to not make it heavy
on either side of these. The working link page I would use would be a link that
takes the user to a page that talks about the artist, i.e. where they grew up,
how they got into music, top accomplishments etc. This page will include an
audio file to a podcast that features the artist talking about a topic that
would interest the target audience. The website would also be interactive to
help keep users who go to the website on the site, with the use of playable videos,
audio files, GIFs and other forms of multimedia.
How do you intend to link your media products to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the digitally convergent nature of your media production?
My products
will show clear knowledge and understanding through the constant reference and
thinking about the mass market target audience and how everything will appeal to
them as they are the main focus of this project. I hope to get some brand
recognition for the artist, using the same house style as the logo I will make
for him, use the same font, colour text etc. to make the everything seem like a
professional artists website and music video. Since the video is half fast tempo
and upbeat while the other half juxtaposes that with it being slow with sad
undertones, I will make sure to use the fast part if any advertising is on the
site since that would attract more people to watch the video.
